Michael - 14 CDs to burn, so had to order!!!!!

Look forward to the cache drive selection feature - or until my new laptop arrives (with BurnProof CD Writer).

Now, what price are DVD writers these days ........

I chose the new Sony DRU-500A because it can burn ALL of the formats which few drive can do. It only burns CDs at 24X but is has a big buffer and in practice most PCs can only go that fast anyway, so it my choice right now. It has performed perfectly for CDs and the few DVDs that I have burned..
It writes...

CD-R/RW
DVD-R/RW
DVD+R/RW

I think I paid about $350 (internal IDE) but they are VERY hard to get. I could not find one on the web, but serach the local CompUSA stores and found one. This was about 2 weeks agai. Maybe they are more available now..

Michael - the Sony DVD writer (internal EIDE) is around £246 over here in the UK(inc 17.5% VAT - its like a sales tax!). Good to have a recommendation - thanks.

As you say, 24x for CD writing is plenty fast enough (not sure my PC can handle this anyway).
