Stupid question: how is the lanyard best connected to the WhiBal? I like the idea of having it attached, just having a brain block on how it's supposed to hookup.

Thanks,

Snap it onto the xtra hole in the black card. In the future we will move th hole closer to the edge for easier attachment.

I had the same question as Brian. I figured that if I attach the lanyard to the extra hole, I would not be able to close the four cards together in order to make a compact pack for carrying. ??

I got one of the first WhiBals, so maybe things have changed, but I received one ziploc envelope containing the four WhiBal cards, their purpose pretty obvious, with a little bolt holding all four together tightly so that they open like a hand of cards in Poker. The black card has a hole drilled in it on a different corner. The lanyard was in a separate ziploc envelope, along with another bolt (not quite as thick as the one holding the four WhiBal cards together). That bolt could go in the drilled hole, but I don't see what good this would do. Finally, I received a plastic sleeve of some sort, apparently broken into four approximately equal sized pieces. All quite mysterious. I would think that if there was a hole in the bolt that holds the four cards together, I could push the lanyard through it, make a loop or knot to hold things, and be all ready to go.

At the moment, the lanyard, extra bolt and broken sleeve pieces are sitting in their envelope safely on the desk, and the WhiBal is in the camera bag, where it is proving useful.

Well I just finished sanding with 220 sandpaper. I still cannot figure out how to attach the lanyard. I also have the second bolt and the extra hole in the black card. Maybe I could crazy glue the lanyard to the black card. Seriously I must be missing something here. On the other hand I haven't
used sandpaper since shop class 50 years ago. Great fun.

What plastic sleeve? I only have the lanyard & extra bolt :-) I think the clip on the lanyard is supposed to clip in the extra hole in the black card, which would then stick out... Anyway, I just throw the cards in the bag, or in my pocket and don't bother with the lanyard... Maybe the WhiBal mkII will have a hollow bolt/rivet for the lanyard.
How about making the cards thinner, Michael? The present thickness is fine for the large size, but the small ones could be credit-card thickness?

The Lanyard is designed to be used with the extra hole in the Black card. I am researching a lanyard that will be easier to attach and disconnect. In fact we will have a few optional accessories that are really cool for having the WhiBal nearby without the need for the Lanyard.

Regarding the extra bolt, the thought was to use it for someone who only want to carry 2 cards with them. In Other words have a 2 card WhiBal. In fact we have stopped shipping the extra bolt.

The lanyard "barrel" is designed as a quick disconnect, but if it is smashed into 4 pieces than it has suffed shipping damage. Just drop me a note and I will send you replacements.

If you could get a hole through the main bolt, even at the expense of going to a bigger bolt, I could provide my own lanyard, choose its color and length to suit me, and save you the expense of the extra items and making the hole in the black piece. If you go that way, I will be happy to return my broken sleeve in return for a new bolt. And if it is bigger, I don't mind drilling new holes in my Mk I WhiBal to insert it.

Did you all decide to pull the trigger and release C1 3.5.1? If there are still issues being looked into, there are several E-1 owners pent up on your private beta-testers board who would like to participate while there is still time for input.

Regrding the bolt. I am not sure what kind of bolt you are referring to. With the Black hole (Extra hole) cannot you provide a lanyard of your choice?

In any event if you can give me an example of the type of bolt you are referring to I am all ears. We are jusat about to begin a large production run with our new vendor so any changes need to happen now.

The release of V3.5.1 is slated for end of July at this point if all continues to go as planned.

Right now the bolt has two parts, call 'em the nut and the bolt. The nut is the outside, and the bolt goes inside. When they are screwed together they hold all four cards tightly. The bolt appears to have a depression in the center, which I suspect I could drill out (I'm at office right now and am working from memory). But aren't there hollow-centered bolts made? Perhaps at the next larger diameter. If I get time, I will look at an online catalog to see if I can get you a part number or specification.

Putting a second hole through the black card seems a waste, and besides the cards won't close up when there is a lanyard and hardware in that hole.

I will look into the hollow bolt concept, but please also continue your search. Thanks.
