Just tried the program, and i really like it however, i think there could be a few changes to make things easier:
1)
-- ability to view horizontal higher than 1000 (for pictures in landscape format)
-- Ability to not alter picture and leave it at full resolution even though the picture would be too big to view on your screen.
2) when selecting multiple directories.. ability to change the name instead of seeing source_d and soruce_p etc depending on what drive you are viewing.. Ie if the pix on d:\ u want to name "Florida Sunsets" and another drive has pix you want to label "Beaches" or whatever.
3) ability to save the index to the HD instead of forcing it to burn. I realize this is a beta software and something that may be added in a future release and for now to copy it from the dir in the install dir
When i get a chance to test it out some more, i will post some moer comments.

Mike

Mike,
Thanks for your feefback...
On your points...
1 - As the viewing images get bigger there is less and less space for the archive. And if the viewing image was as big as the source file it would BE the source file. Unless it was RAW and then we would have to convert it and that is beyond the scope of the program. The 1000 pixel limit is somewhat arbitrary, but the full source image would not be in the interest os fht eprogram...unless you have a process in mind that I am not thinking of..(let me know).
2 - Our goal in the Archove is to duplicate the structure of the HD layout. While it could change in the future, the renaming of the destination folders is also beyond the scope and also goes aginst the grain of an Archive, which is to preserve the original. So not for not at least..
3 - There is not need to force to burn to make the index. After the prcessing phase, the index exists on HD. It is in a folder called TempIndex in the AC folder. You can copy it anywhwere and it will serve as an index. You could upload it to a website...Anywhere. So for now you can achive this manually with no burn needed. In a future version we will probably offer it as a feature. So we finally get a full yes!!
Thanks for the feedback..

-- my reasoning behind keeping the archiver to view the original file without modification is that instead of using acdsee or something to browse the cd.. use the archiver program to quickly browse the cd and open files
- granted less pix would be on the cd itself because of this, but a check box somewhere to enable this shoudl not be too hard to implement and would give the user the ability to do it
- the 1000 on the horizonatal ought to be raised at least to 1024 or 1158. I have a 21 inch screen running 1600x1200 and looking at a picture that is at most 1000 (an odd number) or even pictures that are smaller would b problematic, though liveable.

-- Reason i would like to change the name of the originating folder is because this program would be good to send cds of pictures to clients or friends, and in that instance it would be nice to be able to rename the parent dir since the ppl the cds would be sent to would not need to know your own dir structure.

As to your Point #2...the name. We have a feature called 'lowest Common Folder for root, which does just what you describe. It eliminates the folder structure and you are left to just the lowest common folder on a disk. You canhave this work automatically to get to the lowest common folder, or set it to manual where you can set it to any intermediate folder path.
