Can you explain what files are left in the TempIndex folder in ArchiveCreator?
Can these be safely removed after burning a set of discs?
Is there any benefit in leaving these files on the HD?
I would guess that while these files are genreally pretty small, they can add up.
I want to be sure I am not going to end up cloggin my HD with info that can be safely trashed, but I don't want to trash information that is useful to the program (or future revisions of the program) if it is better to save that info.
Thanks, Erik.

Erik,
Good question.
The TempIndex folder has the the entire index that is created after processing. It is left behind so that you can re-enter AC and burn another set of discs from the last Archive Set without having to re-process. Also you can process the files and then burn at another time. So this is a feature.
When you process again or process the next Archive Set the TempIndex folder is deleted and the new one written, so this will not be an acculmating thing. Just 1 folder that ranges in size from 5-200Mb depending on your file selection list and image options (it could be bigger or smaller as well).
Some people will want to copy this folder manually onto a another space on the HD to sort of make a Master Index of all the Cds. We plan to add this feature into AC but for now you can copy this folder to another place and maintain a DB of sorts to your Cds.
I hope that this answers your question.
Thanks..

Michael,
Thanks for the answer. That is useful information. I now have one more question. If I were to copy this folder to a new location on my HD after each burn, should I rename the folder with a new unique name?
Does AC use the folder names: "TSource_F" and "TSource_V" every time it creates a new temp folder by simply overwriting the existing temp folder?
Thanks again,
Erik.

You should make a Master folder...let's say "c:\Archives".
Copy the entire TempIndex folder into there and rename the TempIndex Folder to "2002NOV" or whatever.
So after a while you will have
"c:\Archives\2002NOV"
"c:\Archives\2002DEC"
"c:\Archives\2003JAN"
Do not rename any of the folder inside of the Temp Index as this will break the index.
AC reuses the Source_F names, but this is down few folders.
Does this answer...
