Dear Mickael,
Maybe it is just my setup, Windows XP and a 16x Burn-proof burner, but on several CDs it will thrash for 2-3 minutes, and in the worst case, more than 5 minutes, verifying one file before it produces an error message "A Verification Error was detected in File:" Couldn't this be done a little more quickly? And then I sometimes get an "Error 52 Bad filenamenumber, Location:ArchiveCreator.clsFileVerifier.Verifyfile , Line 72" and the only useful option is to abort. At which point the program bales out. and I need to follow your advice and restart and go directly to Burn again, removing the disks that have already been created. But this means I don't know what other errors there might have been on the disk that caused the error message.
Is anyone else having problems in the verify cycle?
Sincerely,
Rich Milne

Rich,

The verify "thrashing" generally means that it is taking multiple reads to read a file and it takes a long time. This can be caused by...

--Bad media
--Good media that is not "happy" with your drive
--A dirty lens which causes a marginal burn and then it is hard to read it back.
--Heavy reliance on "Burn-Proof" which puts too many gaps in the burn (although these normally go undetected)

In the verify we read every byte of every archived file. This normally takes about 3-4 minutes on my system for a 650MB CD.

If you read the CD back in another drive it may read fine or it may have problems. But in general, this long verify is an indication of a bad burn or read as noted above.

The error 52 is not normal and may be caused by this bad situation, or may be unrelated.

BTW...if you take the CD and go to the verify page, you can verify the disk just as if it had been verified in the burn process.

What kind of media are you using??

As an example, one day in my testing, everything was going fine, and I tried some certain "name brand" disks, and the first 3 out of 3 had problems, all other media I was using (about 30 disks) had no problems. So media is critical...and a :name" brand is not anindication of anything..There are burning hints and tips here..
