I shoot with a Canon 1d Mark II and it seems that the auto white balance in this camera is soooo good that I see no noticable improvement by using WhiBal. I've had WhiBal now for a little bit over a week and I have used it in many different light conditions (daylight, flash, etc.). I cannot see any difference in improvement. I am not knocking the product. I am sure with less sophisticated cameras it may serve a purpose. However, with the top of the line DSLRs, at least with my 1DMarkII, I do not see a need for this product.

I find the differences more noticeable when shooting indoors with mixed lighting :-)

I use a Canon 10D. So maybe the auto white balance is different to your 1d MII. I can see differences between the auto white balance(also the sun/cloudy/shade... setting) and WhiBal. I mostly shoot landscapes or in the city. On a sunny day the difference are not big, but with changing light I prefer WhiBal.

Please try this. Take your RAW AWB shot, and put the cursor over the WhiBal light gray. Are the RGB numbers the same? If so then the AWB worked perfectly. If not, then the WhiBal will provide a more accurate WB. I just did a series of Capture One seminars shooting the 1DMkII with flash and the camera set to daylight (which the flash is balanced to). The camera was wrong (as expected). I am not saying not to use AWB or that it does not work, just try my little test.
