New User Questions

I just received my pocket WhiBal and have a couple of questions/suggestions:

1.- On the black card on the side that goes towards the camera there is a black glossy label about 2"x1 1/2" which covers pretty much the entire area of the card that is exposed when the cards are "opened" Is this what I am supposed to use as a black point reference? Or should I try removing this sticker to be able to expose the actual WhiBal material? I am afraid that removing the sticker may leave glue on the card which may affect the reading. If I need to remove the sticker, would it be safe to use something like alcohol to clean up the glue residue? Or even wash the card with dishwashing fluid without changing the color of it? I know this sounds crazy, but hey there are no stupid questions right? <s>.

2. - As soon as I opened the cards a couple of times the screw holding them together started loosening. I know I can get some locktite and have it stay in place, but it would be better if the screw used would be the type that could be tightened hard, but have it leave some play for the cards to be able to be fanned out. The type of screw used if tightened would lock the cards in place.

3. - I did not get the ball to adjust the lanyard, this would have been nice since I usually use this type of device, is there a way to get one mailed?

I will greatly appreciate your response. I look forward to using your product, white balance has been my Achilles’ tendon since I went digital.

1 - The Black sticker uses proprietary technilogy to produce a Black point reference that is far balkcer than gretag. Whie the material is highly relfective, you can see the reflectance in the viewfinder and move the card slightly to remove it. On Gretag and WhiBal "card" there is "always" some reflectance which is hard to see. So do not remove the sticker. it is a major feature of WhiBal!

2 - We were sent the wrong hardware and had to use a shorter female than usual. We are switching back to the longer female and also changing over to a stronger locktite to correct the problem.

3 - Please send an email and I will send you a new lanyard ball, and a new screw assmebly.

We have begun to use an industrial grade of locktite and we are waiting for the proper female srews to become available this week.

I just sent you an e-mail, did you receive the one I sent out on the 2nd? I really need the screw assembly because the one that came with my WhiBal keeps falling appart.
