Hopefully Michael will read this post.

Sometimes when I use my small WhiBal outdoors and at indoor weddings then set the white balance of the images in Capture One Pro 3.6 the color temp slider is at the maximum right at 14000 and the Tint is a -19 and the image looks bad even though I used the WhiBal. This doesn't happen all of the time only sometimes.

Do you know why this happens? In a previous post on ths WhiBal forum Michael mentioned that the older WhiBal does not have yellow lines on the short edge near the screw and may be out of spec. My WhiBal has no yellow lines - could this be the problem?

Is is possible to exchange my WhiBal with no yellow lines for a new model that has the yellow lines?

I would appreciate any help or suggestions. Have a great day!

Whatever CO is doing it is not the fault of WhiBal. The older WhiBals MAY be out of spec, but to a very slight degree and the percentage was extremely low. So if it is out (unlikely), it would only produce the slightest difference, as our specs are quite tight and even an out of spec WhiBal is better than most other gray card solutions.

It is extremely rare for both side of the card to be out of spec, so take a picture of each side and compare. Also the dark gray are also almost never out of spec so compare to them. If you send me 2 RAW files, one of each side of your WhiBal i can determine if it is within spec or not. Please do that.

Use www.yousentit.com and make sure you add comments in the comments box so i know what is being sent and also copy this URl so i can relate it to this thread. Thanks.

I'm gonna second Michael T here...I've got one of the first WHiBal, and there's no difference in one purchased last month as far as operation.

I've not seen what you describe, Bill. Sounds like you're using the white square to set white balance...is that what's causing this????
