Feature Suggestions

I have a couple of suggestions (the first is specific to some Canon cameras (specifically the G2), and may be a bit on the large side when implementing...)

When downloading photos from the camera, you get 3 files:
CRW_1732.CRW
CRW_1732.THM
CRW_1732.TXT

What would be nice is a feature that enabled the linking of the .txt file to the index page and embedding the content into the archive pages - they contain exposure information, e.g:

File: CRW_1732.CRW
File size: 2,853KB
Image Serial Number: 117-1732
Camera Model: Canon PowerShot G2
Firmware: Firmware Version 1.10
Date/Time: 2002.12.21 18:04:52
Shutter speed: 1/13 sec
Aperture: 2.2
Exposure mode: Program

Enable custom CD / archive sizes over 999Mb - often I use the s/w just to create index pages, and do not burn the CDs (as the RAWs reside on my HDD). Having all the thumbnails on one page would be useful, rather than spanning multiple pages.

Another option would be to have an option that allowed just the one index page, and each indicated which CD / archive volume the image was on (rather than having multiple index pages).



Thanks for your product, it make displaying photos for friends and family a lot simpler, and saved me from writing my own :)

In the setup screen - allow the field "Name (CD Vol)" to be more characters - both for the index and for the CD name. Esp relevant when burning in Joliet format.

Rationale - allow more systematic naming or archives, normally I use something like:

2003-01-Sunset-1
2003-01-Sunset-2
(and depending on the event even the day)

Ideas 1 and 2 are planned.

idea #3 is not possible as the CD name is limited to 16 Characters by Windows. Please use the Description.

Another thought (as it would give a bit more flexibility)

The name entry only allows 13 characters - perhaps a setting of 1 for width could be allowed, and allow [chars-width] characters to be entered in the name box.

We limit it to 13 because the CD number can roll over into 3 digits even if the width is set for 1. We are taking a rsik that people might go over 999 but I think it is a safe risk..

(Sorry if this is already an option, I cannot see it anywhere).


An option to "burn" either iso images, or "burn" the archive to folders and not CDs directly.

Rationale - this will enable "off-line" creation of archives, either
for burning at a later date or storing on a LAN etc.

Both are planned for a future version. Right now we are preparing our DVD version and then we plan to get onto features like you have mentioned.
