View Full Version : Index generation suggestion

I've run into this situation more than once. I process my files and I check the html view and discover I need to rotate some images. Now, since AC can't rotate images (something in the future???) I'll use IrfanView to do a lossless rotation and try to re-generate the html view. The new view still has the previous images (the now rotated images are not rotated as per previous index).

It seems there is no easy way to purge the html view files. Could there be an option to dump the cached html index files or to update them? The only way around this is to generate an index on another set of files and then come back and generate an index on the files I wanted in the first place.

To summarize:

-Need to be able to clear index files cache.

-In addition to above, provide rotation for index image.

As an addition, how do I preview an image as shown on the AC webpage?

I understand all issues.

Rotation...we have discussed this for a future version. It is possible. In general we do not like to touch source images, but this could be an option that someone could decide to use or not.

Regarding the re-use of images...

You are, of course correct in your findings. The reuse of the previous images allows for changes in file selection without having to re-process ALL the images. In the future we may add a "do not use previous images" option, which would solve your issue.

For now, let me suggest 2 work-arounds that might be better than processing a new File Selection Set.

1 - Delete the TempIndex folder before you process. Or you can delete just the rotated files, or just some folders (all within the TempIndex folder).

2 - Rather then fully process a new files selection list. Just change the drop shadow option for the thumbs and the viewing images. Then begin the processing, and cancel as soon as the image process begins. This should delete the TempIndex folder.

Or, as maybe you have already done, just save a File selection list with 1 file, and recall it, process it, and then recall the real list that you want to archive.

I hope that this is helpful..
