You previously said it would not be possible to import existing AC archives. Is this a change of heart?

If it can be done, how would one go about doing it?

Perhaps the statement is a bit ambiguous. let me know where it is and I will clarify it.

What we ARE able to do is the following...

Load the Index from a previous Archive Set into a Master Archive Index.

In the Preferences set the folder to hold the Master Index. Then go to the Verify Page and select the drive that has a previous AC Archive Index on it. Click the Add to Master Index button. The Index from the previous archove will be added to the Master Index and a new top level Index page will be created. This allows an Index of Archive Indexs to exist on yourt HD, that will allow you to navigate to any previous index and its thumbnails and viewing images.

You can view the Master Index from the File Menu in AC. Or manually from any browser.

I hope that this is clear.

If I transfer the index from a previous archive (now on a CD) to the master index folder on the HD, what about the full-sized images? It appears they don't get transferred over using the process you suggested.

I can transfer the full-sized images over to the master index folder manually using Windows Explorer. Is that the way to do it?

If so, where do I paste these full-sized images that I transfer over?

If the previous archive (on CD) spans several disks, do I just do this one at a time?

When you say "full size images" do you mean the Archived "source" files, or the Index viewing images? I assume that you mean the "source" files...the archived files.

In this case of course you have to copy them from each CD. This is where they now reside. If you want to copy them ALL then you should use Windows Explorer and would copy from each CD in the set. If you want to copy just 1 file or a folder of files, you can use the AC Index and use the FILE or FOLDER button(s).

I hope that this answer your question..

I want to copy them all, because I want to reproduce what I now have on several CDs to a fewer number DVD's. So, assuming I transfer the index files as you suggested above, where do I put the full-sized image files on the hard disk.

Alternatively, would it just make more sense for me to transfer only the full-sized image files over from the CDs to the HD, and then start the DVD archive from the beginning, forgetting what I already have?

Yes...your last comment about copying the files to the HD and creating a new Archive set is the best thing to do. There is no reason to reference to the old archives.

BUT....

Do save the old CDs, and store them in an off-site location. Those CD archives are valuable as your "second copy" archive that you should always have.

Good advice.

Thanks for your attentive replies.
