Hi Michael,
Background: I used the LR Beta for about 5 months and now have PSE5.
I couldn't get much detail on 1.0 due to it's not being released yet, but what have they done with backing up? I find it difficult to determine which folders and even images were backed up, so that if I edit old images again, I need to know that I have not yet backed them up. I will check out your tutorial on LR and Archiver.
1) Can you back up a shoot (or selected images) and get all the actual files, rendered previews (so you don't lose them), tags, and ratings, and actually know where they are put?
2) If you can back up a shoot, can you elect to move the actual files off the main hard drive, after a successful backup?
3) If you can move files off the hard drive, or when you make a normal shoot backup, does LR mark the pictures in any way so you know which images got backed up? I now find that it is very difficult for me to tell which images got backed up, even though, say, in PSE5, if I move them offline, it marks their previews with a disc icon. But, my workflow may be/come to simply backup the NEF originals offline and bring them in as previews only.
4) I was watching your import tutorial (without sound, at work) and didn't notice renaming as you import. Is that there? That's the first line of defense.
If not, can you rename any group/folder/selected files, giving a new base name and numbering sequence?
