I dont want to leave all my pics in my camera or on my computer until I have enough for a disk! How can I burn a few at a time onto a cd until its full? There has to be an easy answer! Any help is appreciated!
Thanks!

MaryAnn,

AC does not write multi-session discs because there is too much risk (in our opinion) involved with mutli-session in regards to an archive. For that reason AC does not offer the option to add to an already written disc. We always close the disc for proper data integrity.

We think that the best solution, is to Archive to a CD-R, and next time, Archive to another CD-R, and continue this until you have a full disk which becomes the master archive on 1 disc with a complete Index. The only down side (other than a little more time) is the cost of the discs, which are cheap. So you could use inexpensive media until the final Archive Set is burned which could be done on premium media. Inexpensive media can cost as little as $.25 per disc. The other advantage to tghis method is that you should also keep the next to the last archove as a second copy (just missing the final files)

Alternately, you can do the same process as above using CD-RW discs, untl the final Archive Set is burned to CD-R, and then there is no cost involved. Just burn to a different RW disk, so that the previous Archive is always around. In other words you will have 2 copies.

Because you arr creating a incremental Archive in the above methods, the image processing times are very short becausd the images are reused in each incrmental burn. We feel that for archival purposes, the above is the best method.

I hope that this is helpful. Let me know if you have further questions..

Thanks for your response to my first question michael.

Now, a few more so I can learn what the heck I am doing!

" archive to a cdr and ext time archive to another cdr and continue until you have a full disk which becomes the master archive on 1 disc with complete index"

so, what you are saying is.....make a bunch of cds with small amounts of data on them until I have enough for a full cd.
Then take all those cds and put them on another disk to make one full disk instead of a bunch of half full disks....ok....
I got that, but .......how will i transfer all of the half full disks to one full disk? do I download it all to my computers harddrive and then burn it to one disk?
I have never transfered data from one cd to another....
Thanks so much for taking the time to answer me! A person will never know unless they ask!

MaryAnn,

I am assumming that you are transferring the files to your hard drive. They will remain there until the full CD-R is burned. So each time you are just doing another larger Archive Set from the Hard Drive.

If you decide to delete the files from you hard drive and DEPEND on the CD Archive (as opposed to it being a safety copy). Then make sure that you burn 2 CDs of the final Archive Set, and store 1 CD in a differnent location from the first. Optical technology (CD/DVD) is not perfect, so you must take precautions to ensure that the Archives have as much integrity as possible. So verify, use good media, slow burn speeds, and make 2 copies (for example).

I hope that this is helpful.
