I know you have had a lot more experience than me in handling and using DVD blank media. Perhaps you can help me.

I've had some instances where for one reason or another I want to re-format or erase DVD+RW and/or DVD-RW discs. It seems that when I use the format function in My Computer, the disc gets "stuck", the light keeps blinking, and sometimes it eventually stops and sometimes I have to re-start the computer to halt this. I have no positive assurance that the disc has been re-formatted.

I've been trying a quick format, a full format, and using Roxio V.6, an erase function.

Later when I try to use these discs, whatever software program I am using tells me that the disc isn't empty. This is even though I thought they had been re-formatted.

Is there some way to format the disc more aggressively than what I am doing?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I can't speak for the other programs, but in Archive Creator you can go to the Options | Erase Media menu item and select to either do a quick format or a full format which writes "0"s to the entire disk. An RW disc must be in the drive in order to enable to enable the menu item.

This is only in the V2.0 beta 3 version, not the V1.1.1 version.

I hope that this is helpful..
