I hope somebody can enlighten me about this...

I processed an image on my Mac laptop C1Pro 3.7.6. The monitor is calibrated. The image looked good the levels were adjusted to get max density in the shadow detail without blocking up.

I opened the image in PS on my desktop unit. Also calibrated although the two systems aren't a perfect match.

To my surprise the image was pretty light in the shadow area and the histogram showed the curve moved substantially to the right.

I checked the image in PS back on the laptop and the histogram was the same there.

Why would the histograms in PS and C1 be so different? I adjusted the slider to get my best shadow density in C1 but the actual processed file was quite thin in the shadow areas.

Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

Thanks for any help.

Allen

It sounds like a color space mismatch. Make sure that Photoshop is set to warn you anytime that the incoming file does not match your working space.

That is my first thought that would explain things, without me seeing the files.

Thanks for the thought...

I've double checked - I'm processing to Adobe 98 and PS is set appropriately.

Here are a couple of screen caps of the respective histograms.

Does this help at all?
