Had no problems burning to CD-R/RW, but have yet to succeed in burning to DVD-RW. Currently using version 2.0b3. If ASPI is turned off get following error message:
Unrecoverable write error........
Device Error 1000
Error Performing DVD-RW Quick Format
Error Sense Data: SENSE KEY: 0 ASC: 0 ASCQ: 0
If ASPI turned on system does not recopgnise my burner.
System is a Toshiba Satellite 5200-801 laptop, which has a 2.0 GHz P4-M, 1GB of RAM and is running Windows XP Home. Burnner is built in CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW and is also Toshiba.
no problems burning to DVD-RW from other programs.

Sorry for the issues....
1-Regarding the ASPI layer, did you verify that ASPI is installed properly on your laptop?
See...
http://www.pictureflow.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=785
For details on that.
2-With the ASPI option off, try this...
a-launch AC, go to the Help->About menu. You should see a dialog box pop up, double click on the AC Icon, you should see another dialog box come up, put this away.
b-go to the Burn page
c-select the Options->diagnostics menu, a small diagnositics program should appear.
d-on this program, select your drive, insert the dvd-rw and first press the Get Disk/Drive Info button, then press the Erase Disk button.
e-If that works without problem press the Copy Result To Clipboard button and paste then in an email and send me the results to peterm@fnol.net
3-You could also go to the preferences screen and increase the media wait time option to 10 or 15 or even higher and see if that helps.
Let me know what you find....

It looks like I am not the only problem having trouble burning DVD-RW with the Toshiba drive. I sent you my system info sometime ago, are you close to finding out why the software will not burn DVD-RW with Toshiba drive?

ats65 and athomas2....
You both seem to have similar problems...we just uploaded beta 4 on the website. Please download and install this version.
Do the following...
1-turn off aspi support and restart the app
2-go to the prefernces dialog and you will see an option called Media Wait Time... please set this to 20 (seconds)
3-Try the burn again.
If it doesnt work, set the option to 30 or more and see what happens. If it still doesnt work, try the same with ASPI support turned on.
If it does work, you can try to dial the number down and see where it fails.
This option has modified use in this version, there is also some other changes that may effect you issues. Please let me know how you make out

The problem still exists even with the setting set to 60 seconds and the ASPI turned off.

Thanks for check that. I have spoken to the vendor that provides us with the dvd burning library. They have a toshiba drive on order and will look into this as soon as it arrives. Sorry about the inconvenience and hope to have a resolution soon....
AThomas2, I am assuming you problem will be resolved when this issues is since it seem to be the exact same issue...Incidently, it has nothing to do with erasing, it has to do with the preliminary writing phase, the erase happens OK.

I just got word from our vendor that they had a similar report from another customer and should get on it as soon as the drive arrives...

Our vendor is working on the toshiba drive problem you are seeing. He has asked me to have you verify again that your system does not work properly with the aspi option turned ON. Can you please do the following...
1-go to http://www.pictureflow.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=785 and read about the aspi layer and be sure that you have installed it and it is up to date.
2-once you verify that aspi is installed properly then try the -rw again.
Thanks
Hope to hear from you soon.

I was using V4.6 aspi layer. After downloading the 4.71.2 version, the aspi check utility shows only two files, aspi32.sys and wnaspi32.dll are at v4.71.2, the other two files, wowpost.exe and winaspi.dll are still v4.6. I checked the install.bat and it only updates the aspi32.sys and wnaaspi.dll. It never updated the other two files.
I ran the test as you suggested and got the same problem.

Checked again, am running ASPI version v4.71.2 and noted the same thing as ats65 regarding only 2 files to this level. AC still doesn't recognise my burner although other programs are working 'OK' with it.

Problems again! The new file you sent me DVDProX.dll resolved my problems with Beta4. Yesterday I downloaded Ver 2.0, first attempt at burning to DVD-RW had old problem during erasing of DVD. Found that installation of Ver 2.0 had overwitten new version of DVDProX.dll, so re-installed new version. Version 2.0 now locks up when I insert DVD and I have to use task manager to close Archive Creator as it is not responding. Any ideas please? Also, can I get another copy of Beta4 to use whilst this new problem it being resolved (I foolishly thought I no longer needed Beta4 and deleted it off my PC).

beta 4 and the V2.0 should be the same code (except for version numbers.
But here it is anyway if you want to try.

Let's see what happens with this. There is no reason that I can think of that things should have changed..
Sorry for the problem..

I don't have the problem with V2.0.

Thanks, for the copy of beta 4. However, when I reinstalled it I had the same problem. Have now re-installed Ver 2.0 and got that working. Will send a full report in a few days when I have had time to experiment. It looks as though if I let Archive Creator determine write speed, programme hangs, but if I enter burn speed manually everything is 'OK'. Would like more time to try things out though before I state this as a fact.

I am now confused, but happy. Last night I de-installed, then re-installed Ver 2.0,. on then trying to burn an archive to DVD it worked correctly. Don't know what the difference was, but the important thing is it worked correctly. Thanks for the help.
