I just cannot get on with lightroom the latest version even gets export tiffs wrong.plus it uses up load of harddisk space. So I want to simplfy my work flow.

Has any one come across a browser only that will allow me to
View my raw pictures
Flag the worst for deleting
Sort the keepers into folders
Rename them (by Batch)

I can then save the result by useing the trusty Archive Creator to keep track on the picts, this also gets the pictures off my hard disk in a way I can keep track of them.

On one of the fud videos i saw Michael useing a raw converter, anyone know what its called.???
this would give me a simple system I can handle.
Browser sort-archive as first back up-
convert the raws I need-
photoshop for problems-
achive the results as final archive

If you are on Windows, the fastest culling method I have seen and used is FastStone Image Viewer. I would not use it for RAW conversion, but it is the best I have found for sorting through the RAWs to find keepers and rejects. It views the embedded JPEGs so is very fast with no need to build previews, etc.

Also BreezeBrowser is almost as fast and also has many more features such as VERY fast creation of web galleries from the embedded JPEGs.

The Raw converter you saw is something that I am working on and will announce it when the time is right. We call it X for now.

thanks very much for your reply will there is life after lightroom

you have one waiting for X,
what about bringing out a simple browser that will marry up with the worlds best archiver.

We trust that X will be a good browser for Raw images. Fast and easy is our goal. Lean and mean.

I look forward to trying it out! I have recently spent a lot of time trying out various browsers for sorting raw files. I need something that gives faster previews than Bridge CS3 v2.1 does. I have ACDSEE that is faster, but I look forward to what you may bring to the table!

We are molding it in the spirit of RawShooter...lean and mean, with excellent IQ. Of course I cannot promise if and when it will be ready (the lawyers told me to say that, but it is true).
