The long wait for the DVD was well worth the wait. It came out to be more than I expected. Extra stuff in the DVD that is again, well worth the wait. I love the interview with all the professional photographers that describe why the love the products sponsored.

Great video, Michael, I have been dipping into it and each section seen has been worthwhile.

The extras disc is a thoughtful and considerate bonus!

Once again you prove your products and ethics make supporting your business well worthwhile.

Makes me wonder what your next innovation or initiative will be. Want to gives us a clue? ;-)

Regards,
Balliolman.

Thanks for the kind words.

Actually we have 2 products ready for short term release. One as many of you know is a raw converter in collaboration with Magne Nilsen (Etcetera), the other is a surprise and a product very far from anything that I have ever done. Just waiting for the patent filings to be complete and the testing of the final protos and then maybe we can begin to discuss it.

Thanks again..

Any more on the surprise product you eluded to back in late October?

Only to say it is done as of this week. So onto some testing with other photographers, revise the documentation, finish the patent filings and go into production.

I would expect an official announcement in Feb if all continues to go as planned.

Raw Converter is also doing well, and I would also expect a 2008Q1 announcement, but maybe that is my wishful thinking...but maybe not...or maybe so...or not...

Thanks for asking...

So Michael,
For us who started this ride with Raw Shooter Pro. Do we get a free start with your new product? Just like Adobe did when we had to gave up RSP. I think its fair. Also the number is probably fairly small. The ones who made the move to light room or another. Just hope we can stay with ya Michael. I would even help with the beta...... I think family is everything!

Spirit,

I agree with the family part, but with all due respect, why do you find it fair for to receive a free version of our new product.

Just curious.

Because it's Christmas? (;-} I would have stayed with RSP. But was forced to change. With no updates coming. From RSP. I realize its not you fault. I just kinda feel that way. Now after reading this. Er a Because it's Christmas? (:o} I guess I can't explain this one Michael...

OK, let me try again. You were my point of contact with RSP. Then it was bought-out. You were still my contact (sort of) with light-room. Now comes your new Raw developer. Your still my contact. It seems like an unbroken chain. Make any sense at all? It was just a thought.....

Makes total sense. Please purchase our product if it meets your needs and price point when it comes out. Then we can keep the family together.

Look at it this way. We all got a raw deal (or not) when Pixmantec was bought out. We all lost our favorite converter and I lost my job. So now Magjne and I have made a large investment to bring out a replacement for RSP. We have taken all of the risk, in that maybe you will not like it. You have no risk because if you do not feel it meets your needs at our price you simply do not buy it.

So we keep the chain unbroken...yes <g>. Soon we will all be back together again.

Happy holidays!

I am looking forward towards your Raw Convertor product too, Michael. I first came to rawworkflow.com back when you were working with PhaseOne, bought your ArchiveCreator along the way and have been enjoying its use. All along I stuck to CaptureOne as my RAW convertor of choice. I recently upgraded to a Canon 40D. The new CaptureOne 4.0 is, to summarise what Michael Reichmann from Luminous Landscape says: too little, too late. I don't like the workflow in Canon DPP. The workflow in Lightroom 1.3.1 is good, however not as fast as CaptureOne 3.77 used to be (for my 20D files), and the color rendition leaves much to be desired.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that your new collaboration with Magne will turn out as a successful product! I would be keen to beta-test your product if you guys ever decided to do such a test :)

Thanks for the well wishes. We think that we will meet your expectations, of course on the feature front not all on day one. And then again, we are doing more than crossing our fingers. Normally Magne lives and works in Norway, but he will joining me in Florida later this month for a few weeks of us working together eye to eye. Some might read that as a sign that we are getting closer and finalizing details.

Regarding beta, of course there will be a beta period, but probably not the worldwide public beta type that has come into vogue lately. Please send an email if you would like to be considered for beta testing. Thanks in advance.

A great 2008 to all.
