Is this normal for this forum to accept completely unrelated for sale "commercials". There is one hanging in the Adobe Lightroom Videos forum with cell phone price list.

And yes, it does bother me, however I realize I'm not the one made this forum available.

Hi,

It is not normal, and it bothers me more than you can imagine. So much so that we now moderate everyone who registers for the forum, and we vet by hand, each and every person who applies for membership. 90% are spammers! Which means this is a total waste of my time, but if I do not do it we will have several spam posts a day like we used to.

The amazing thing is that these are not automated bots that are applying for membership, these are human beings as they have to get past the graphic text display and enter the text. Bots cannot do that. So somewhere in 1000 of places throughout the world there are banks of people being paid to do this work.

And of course there are the loaners, lie the poster you found that was smart enough to get through my vet and actually post a SPAM message.

Thanks for pointing it out and welcome to the forums.

I will delete this post after you have read it. Thanks..

BTW...The post has been deleted and the poster permantly banned via email address and ISP.

Good post!
Yes, it happens on every forum I am on. Insert snide comments here. Thanks for your efforts to control it here Michael. On the brighter side. At least we aren't hit with all the porn.

Maybe we are? But Michael kindly removes it before we even see it......

Again Thanks Michael!

The advantage of moderating the registrations, is that we catch the jerks BEFORE they get to post the trash. But it feels like such a waste of my time everyday I do it. But it is part of the cost of doing business in the free world of the internet. I wonder why there are so many bad people in the world?

Thanks for the post spiritman. Of course, another way to clean up the site which I will do at some point, is to force people to use their real name as their login. I did this at the Pixmantic site when I was involved with RawShooter, and it worked really well. The problem is that this BB software does not have an easy way for the user to change their username, so it will fall on this side which again given the number of members will be a huge time burden.

What's a mother to do...?
