I keep getting error 1048 when I try to burn the first DVD of four in my photo archive. I corrected the problem with PS psicon.dll, so now at least it only takes 10-15 min between coaster creations :-). I successfully created an MP3 archive spanning 2 DVD's, so I'm pretty sure the media is OK and the DVD drive is OK. I am using Windows2000. I installed the new ASPI drivers and tried it with those. I tried upping the wait time to 30 secs. Here is what I found repeated many, many times in CDburnlog.txt: IGetBufferUnderrunModePage Failed. - : SONY DVD RW DRU-500A

The box for Test Write Mode is greyed out. I guess this is not an option for DVD's. I need some suggestions as to what to try next before I waste more media. Thanks.
PS I have YarcPlus and like it a lot. I'm sure I'll like this program as well judging from the excellent HTML directory it creates, but right now I'm bummed out!

Have you tried burning a CD? Then you can use the test mode if you want. It will also give us more information. Also, if you have one, please try a dvd+rw or -rw (again, you wont waste disks them and it will give us more info to go on.) Also, can you email me your entire burn log file peterm@fnol.net...

Thanks and sorry for the problems. I use the sony drive and so do lot of others with no problems so the drive should not be the problem here...

CD burned perfectly. DVD+RW was destroyed with the same error message. I've sent you the CDBurnLog.txt. Thanks for your help.

This problem finally identified as a broken burner. Works on CD's but not DVD's. Replacement drive burns fine. I even recovered the disks that were apparently ruined. OK, now on to some real problems (a new thread though). Peter, thanks for your help with figuring this out.
