AC freezes after each CD burn

While trying to burn a set of 6 CD's, AC will successfully burn each CD. However, after each CD is burned and the tray is ejected, AC freezes and won't do the verify step. The tray can longer be manually reinserted. I have to reboot the computer, restart AC, go to the burn menu, and uncheck the CD's I've already burned, and start the next CD in the set. It happens with both version 1 and 2beta. I have Win98 and a Yamaha CRW8424 CDR/RW drive, and antivirus and DirectCD are shut off. Thanks.

Sorry to hear of your problem.

The first thing to try would be to increase the Media Wait Time (in the preferences) to 30 seconds and see if this fixes the problem. It will make some processes pause an extra 30 seconds, so give it time, but if this is determined to be the cause, it can then be reduced to the proper threshold required by your drive.

If this does not solve the issue, then I would suggest that you burn using the ASPi option turned on. Please read this thread to learn how to set up the ASPI layer option..

I haven't had a chance to use Archive Creator since I last posted and have not been following recent posts. However, today I updated the BIOS on my system and did a test write in Archive Creator without increasing wait time. I didn't get any freezes between disc ejections like I did before. I haven't done a real series of writes yet, but I would think that this is a positive sign?
