At arbitrary distances, the DoF amount in front of, and behind, the focus plane may not be the same. In this case, centering the DoF on LA will give slightly incorrect results. Does that matter?

Hi Michael,

It is really up to you. Some photographers like to set the DOF theoretical front/back ratio, and other like to set it they way they want, usually with the DOF more to the back, so that portraits push more focus behind the eye rather than in front.

You can use our distance calculator (http://www.lensalign.com/support.html) to get the theoretical front/back.

How much "movement" of DoF does a single AF adjustment step make, on a camera like the D7000.

Thanks. By the way, I think LA is a brilliant design. So simple but it works.

Thanks for the kind words. Appreciated.

I do not really know. I have heard several things but none from the source or totally convincing. And it is not necessarily the same from mfg to mfg. I would assume that all Nikons are the same however. I will endeavor to find out and post here if I find something out.
